Sindh Archives acquires old records of Sindh from Punjab
Karachi, April 1st, 2010

Sindh Collection comprising 5429 old government publication and books, including rare books, has been acquired by Sindh Archives from Punjab Archives on 29-3-2010. This collection and other record files were shifted to Punjab Archives in the sixties during era of one unit. After reconstitution of provinces "A" class files of records had been transferred to Sindh Archives. The matter for shifting of this record was pending. On the initiatives of Special Secretary, Sindh Archives it was decided in a meeting of concerned Secretaries of both provincial governments that whole Sindh collection will be trasnferred to Sindh Archives. This decision has been implemented.

The important collection include gazetteers, administration reports, proceedings of conferences, census reports, memoirs, assembly debates etc. The complete lists of all material will be promulgated soon. These records will be available for study of researchers after completion of enlistment / cataloguing.
